Borrowing Policies

Trexler Library exists to meet the needs of the students, faculty, and staff of Muhlenberg College.

For current Muhlenberg students, faculty, and staff members, your Muhlenberg ID card is your library card and is what you need to check out library materials. Non-current students, faculty, and/or staff members may sign up for a library card and their privileges will depend on their connection to the College. Those wishing to sign up for a Trexler Library card must have a valid photo ID, an email address, and a phone number. Anyone under the age of 17 looking to acquire a library card must have a parent/guardian present. Alumni who want to acquire a library card must be verified as in good standing with the College and will have a waiting period of several business days. Please note, a library card granted to a non-current-Muhlenberg does NOT include access to our computers. Campus visitors may access the guest WiFi network if they bring their own devices.

Trexler Library divides patrons into four categories. Please review each description to see which patron type you are.

Student Patrons:

Student patrons are composed of Muhlenberg students (full-time or part-time) and Muhlenberg senior scholars. Please see the Student Patron Borrowing Policy to view the full borrowing rules for our Student patrons.

Faculty/Staff Patrons:

Faculty/Staff patrons are composed of Muhlenberg Faculty/Staff (current or retired), members of the Board of Trustees, Family/Spouse of Muhlenberg Faculty/Staff, and the Allentown Art Museum employees. Affiliated Patrons:

Affiliated patrons are composed of Muhlenberg Alumni, Clergy, Muhlenberg Board of Associates. Muhlenberg Alumni are entitled to reference assistance and Interlibrary Loan privileges. Please see the Affiliated Patron Borrowing Policy to view the full borrowing rules for our Affiliated patrons.

Non-Affiliated Patrons:
